Compress the chest at least 2 inches deep

Allow full chest recoil after each compression

Give 30 chest compressions

Open the airway by tilting the head back and lifting the chin

Pinch the nose shut

Give 2 rescue breaths if trained and willing

Make each breath last about 1 second

Watch for the chest to rise

Continue cycles of 30 compressions and 2 breaths

Use the AED as soon as it arrives

Follow the AED prompts

Resume CPR immediately after any shock or if no shock is advised

Continue until the person shows signs of life, help takes over, or you are too exhausted to continue
