Choose fresh basil seeds
Fill a small tray or pot with moist seed-starting mix
Sprinkle seeds lightly on the surface
Cover seeds with a very thin layer of soil
Mist the surface gently with water
Keep the soil consistently moist, not soggy
Place the tray in a warm spot
Provide bright light after sprouting
Cover with a humidity dome or plastic wrap if needed
Check daily for moisture and sprouts
Remove the cover once seedlings emerge
Thin seedlings if they are crowded
Transplant when seedlings have several true leaves
