Choose a ripe peach and remove the pit
Clean all fruit flesh from the pit
Let the pit dry for a few days
Crack the pit carefully to remove the seed inside
Place the seed in a damp paper towel
Put the paper towel in a sealed plastic bag
Refrigerate the bag for 8 to 12 weeks
Check periodically to keep the towel slightly moist
Remove the seed after cold stratification
Plant the seed in a pot with well-draining soil
Cover the seed with about 1 inch of soil
Water lightly
Place the pot in a warm, sunny location
Keep the soil moist but not soggy
Wait for germination
Transplant the seedling to a larger pot when it grows
Harden off the young tree before moving it outdoors
Plant in full sun with good drainage
Water regularly during the first growing season
Protect the young tree from pests and frost
Prune as needed to shape the tree
Wait several years for fruit production
