Go to a strawberry patch when the berries are ripe and red all the way through
Pick in the morning if possible
Hold the stem just above the berry
Gently twist or snip the stem
Avoid pulling the berry directly
Choose firm, bright red berries
Leave green or white berries on the plant
Place berries carefully in a shallow container
Do not stack berries too deeply
Remove any damaged or moldy berries
Keep picked strawberries cool and dry
Wash strawberries only before eating or using them
