Start seeds indoors 8 to 12 weeks before the last frost
Use a sterile, well-draining seed-starting mix
Fill trays or pots with the mix and moisten it lightly
Scatter seeds on the surface of the soil
Press seeds gently into the soil without covering them deeply
Cover seeds with a very thin layer of soil or vermiculite, if needed
Mist the surface lightly to keep it evenly moist
Cover trays with a clear humidity dome or plastic wrap
Place containers in a bright location or under grow lights
Keep the temperature around 65 to 70°F
Maintain consistent moisture without soaking the soil
Remove the cover once seedlings emerge
Transplant seedlings into larger pots after they develop a few sets of true leaves
Harden off seedlings gradually before moving them outdoors
Choose a sunny location with well-draining soil
Space plants about 12 to 18 inches apart
Plant outdoors after all danger of frost has passed
Water newly planted lavender lightly until established
Avoid overwatering and heavy fertilizing
