Choose a suitable palm species for your climate and space
Select a planting site with the right amount of sun and well-draining soil
Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and as deep as the root ball
Remove the palm from its container carefully
Loosen any circling roots gently
Place the palm in the hole with the root ball level with or slightly above the surrounding soil
Backfill the hole with the original soil
Firm the soil gently around the root ball
Water thoroughly after planting
Add mulch around the base, keeping it away from the trunk
Water regularly until the palm is established
Stake the palm only if necessary
Fertilize according to the palm’s needs after it begins to establish
Monitor for pests, disease, and stress signs
