Check that the ears are mature
Look for dried brown silks and firm, full kernels
Peel back a small section of husk to inspect the kernels
Harvest in the morning if possible
Grasp the ear firmly
Twist the ear downward and pull to snap it off the stalk
Place harvested ears in a container or basket
Remove damaged or diseased ears
Store or process the corn promptly
Leave stalks and husks in the field if desired for cleanup or composting
