Turn on the TV and the DirecTV receiver
Press and hold MUTE and SELECT on the remote until the green light blinks twice
Enter the 5-digit DirecTV remote code for your TV brand
Press POWER and check whether the TV turns off
If the TV does not turn off, repeat with a different code
To program the remote for the receiver, press MENU on the remote
Select Settings and Help
Select Settings
Select Remote Control
Select Program Remote
Follow the on-screen prompts to pair the remote
Test the volume, power, and channel buttons
If needed, reset the remote by removing the batteries and reinserting them
If the remote still does not work, repeat the setup process with the correct code or use the DirecTV remote setup menu
