Measure the driveway area
Mark the driveway layout
Check drainage and slope
Remove grass, soil, and debris
Excavate to the needed depth
Compact the subgrade
Install landscape fabric if desired
Add a base layer of large crushed stone
Spread the base evenly
Compact the base thoroughly
Add a middle layer of smaller gravel
Spread the middle layer evenly
Compact again
Add a top layer of driveway gravel
Rake the surface smooth
Maintain a crown or slope for drainage
Edge the driveway if needed
Refill low spots as gravel settles
Regrade and compact periodically
