Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C)
Scrub sweet potatoes clean and pat dry
Prick each sweet potato with a fork 6–10 times
Rub skins lightly with oil (optional)
Sprinkle with salt (optional)
Place sweet potatoes on a baking sheet lined with foil or parchment
Bake 35–60 minutes, until tender when pierced with a knife
Let rest 5–10 minutes
Slice lengthwise and fluff the inside with a fork
Add toppings as desired (butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, maple syrup, marshmallows, or yogurt/Greek yogurt)
