How to Bleed Power Steering Pump?

Park on a level surface and set the parking brake

Turn the engine off and let it cool

Check the power steering fluid level

Fill the reservoir to the proper mark with the correct fluid

Raise the front wheels off the ground if possible

Keep the engine off and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock several times

Recheck the fluid level and add fluid if needed

Inspect for foaming, bubbles, or low fluid

Start the engine and let it idle

Turn the steering wheel slowly from lock to lock several times

Do not hold the wheel at full lock for more than a few seconds

Watch the fluid level and top off as needed

Continue turning the wheel until bubbles stop appearing in the reservoir

Shut off the engine and recheck the fluid level

Lower the vehicle if it was raised

Test drive the vehicle and recheck the fluid level again

Inspect for leaks if noise or foaming continues
