Locate the fuel pump relay in the fuse/relay box
Remove the relay from its socket
Inspect the relay and socket for damage, corrosion, or burnt terminals
Identify the relay terminals using the relay diagram or service manual
Set a multimeter to continuity or resistance mode
Test the relay coil terminals for continuity
Apply 12V power and ground to the relay coil terminals
Listen or feel for a clicking sound
Test continuity between the switched terminals while the relay is energized
Verify the switched terminals open when power is removed
Check for battery voltage at the relay power terminal with the key on
Check for ground control at the relay control terminal if applicable
Swap the relay with an identical known-good relay if available
Reinstall the relay and confirm the fuel pump operates properly
