Disconnect the positive terminal second
Inspect the terminals for corrosion or buildup
Mix baking soda with water
Apply the solution to the terminals and cable ends
Scrub with a wire brush or battery terminal brush
Wipe away residue with a clean cloth
Rinse lightly with water if needed
Dry the terminals completely
Reconnect the positive terminal first
Reconnect the negative terminal second
Tighten the connections securely
Apply petroleum jelly or terminal protectant if desired
