Disconnect the spark plug wire or ignition coil
Remove the spark plug using a spark plug socket
Inspect the spark plug for heavy wear, cracks, or damage
Use a wire brush or spark plug cleaner to remove carbon deposits
Spray the plug with brake cleaner or carburetor cleaner if needed
Wipe the spark plug dry with a clean cloth
Clean the threads gently with a soft brush
Check and adjust the electrode gap if necessary
Reinstall the spark plug by hand first
Tighten the spark plug to the correct torque
Reconnect the spark plug wire or ignition coil
