Scrub the potatoes clean and dry them well
Pierce each potato several times with a fork
Rub with a little oil and sprinkle with salt
Place potatoes directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet
Bake for 35 to 45 minutes, depending on size
Turn once halfway through for even cooking
Check doneness by piercing with a fork; it should slide in easily
For even faster cooking, microwave the potatoes for 5 to 8 minutes first, then finish in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes
Let potatoes rest for a few minutes before serving
