Rinse the broccoli under cold water
Trim off the tough stem end
Cut the broccoli into florets
Peel and slice the stem if using
Bring a pot of salted water to a boil
Add the broccoli and cook for 2 to 4 minutes
Drain immediately
Serve plain or season with salt, pepper, butter, or lemon
Steam the broccoli for 3 to 5 minutes if preferred
Roast the broccoli at 425°F for 15 to 20 minutes if preferred
Sauté the broccoli in oil or butter for 5 to 7 minutes if preferred
