See a veterinarian for a diagnosis and treatment plan
Isolate the affected animal from other pets
Treat all pets in the household if advised by a veterinarian
Use prescribed antiparasitic medication exactly as directed
Apply or give all doses for the full treatment course
Bathe the animal with a veterinarian-recommended medicated shampoo if instructed
Clean and disinfect bedding, collars, brushes, crates, and grooming tools
Wash bedding and fabrics in hot water and dry on high heat
Vacuum carpets, furniture, and pet resting areas thoroughly
Replace or discard heavily contaminated items if needed
Prevent scratching and self-trauma with an e-collar if recommended
Monitor for skin healing, hair regrowth, and reduced itching
Return to the veterinarian for follow-up and recheck exams
Seek urgent veterinary care if the animal stops eating, becomes weak, or develops severe skin infection
