Remove the chicken from any packaging
Place the chicken on a microwave-safe plate or dish
Use the microwave’s defrost setting if available
Enter the chicken’s weight if prompted
Defrost in short intervals, usually 1 to 2 minutes at a time
Flip, rotate, or separate pieces between intervals
Check often to prevent parts from starting to cook
Stop when the chicken is thawed but still cold
Cook the chicken immediately after defrosting
Clean the microwave and any surfaces that touched raw chicken
