Microwave method: Remove packaging; place ground beef on a microwave-safe plate; cover loosely; microwave on defrost setting in short intervals, breaking up and stirring/turning every 1–2 minutes; cook immediately after thawing
Cold-water method: Keep beef in a sealed leak-proof bag; submerge in cold water; change water every 30 minutes; break up and stir occasionally; cook immediately after thawing
Refrigerator method (fast but not instant): Place beef on a plate in the fridge; allow to thaw overnight or until pliable; cook within 1–2 days after thawing
Cook-from-frozen method: Cook directly in a skillet or pot over medium heat; break up as it loosens; cook until no longer pink and reaches safe doneness
Safety checks: Do not thaw at room temperature; if any parts start to cook during microwave thawing, continue cooking right away
