Mark the tail board and pin board layout with a marking gauge and dovetail marker
Secure the tail board in a vise
Cut the tails along the marked lines with a dovetail saw
Remove waste between the tails with a coping saw or fret saw
Pare to the layout lines with chisels
Place the tail board on the pin board and transfer the tail shapes
Clamp the pin board securely
Cut the pins along the transferred lines with a dovetail saw
Remove waste between the pins with a coping saw or fret saw
Pare the pin sockets to the layout lines with chisels
Test-fit the joint
Trim tight spots with a chisel if needed
Apply glue to the joint
Assemble the joint and tap it together with a mallet and scrap block
Clamp the joint until the glue cures
Flush-trim and sand the joint if necessary
