Use the formula: Amps = Watts ÷ Volts
Divide the wattage by the voltage
Example: 1200 watts ÷ 120 volts = 10 amps
If power factor is involved, use: Amps = Watts ÷ (Volts × Power Factor)
For AC circuits, use the correct voltage and power factor if known
For DC circuits, use: Amps = Watts ÷ Volts
