Identify the relay coil terminals and switch terminals from the relay diagram
Connect the control signal to one side of the coil
Connect the other side of the coil to ground or the return path
Add a flyback diode across the coil if using a DC relay
Connect the power source to the relay common terminal
Connect the load to the normally open terminal for default-off operation
Connect the load to the normally closed terminal for default-on operation
Ensure the relay contact rating matches the load voltage and current
Use proper wire gauge and secure connections
Test the relay operation before connecting the final load
