Turn off the shower and water supply if needed
Unscrew the shower head from the shower arm
Inspect the shower head threads for damage or debris
Remove the old washer or O-ring
Replace the washer or O-ring with a new one
Clean mineral buildup from the shower head and threads
Wrap plumber’s tape around the shower arm threads
Reattach the shower head and tighten it by hand
Turn the water back on and check for leaks
Tighten slightly if needed, but do not overtighten
Replace the shower head if cracks or damage are present
