Put on disposable gloves
Pick up the solid waste with paper towels or a plastic bag
Remove any remaining pieces with a spoon or dull knife
Blot the area with paper towels to absorb moisture
Mix a small amount of mild dish soap with warm water
Dampen a clean cloth with the solution
Blot the stain from the outside toward the center
Repeat with clean cloths until the area is clean
Blot with plain water to rinse
Sprinkle baking soda over the area
Let the baking soda sit until dry
Vacuum up the baking soda
Apply an enzymatic carpet cleaner if odor remains
Blot dry with clean towels
Place a fan near the area to speed drying
Avoid scrubbing the carpet
