Get out of the sun immediately
Move to a cool or shaded place
Take a cool bath or shower
Apply cool, damp compresses to the burned area
Use aloe vera gel or a fragrance-free moisturizer
Drink plenty of water
Take an over-the-counter pain reliever if needed
Wear loose, soft clothing
Avoid popping blisters
Avoid further sun exposure until healed
Use sunscreen and protective clothing once you go outside again
Seek medical care if the burn is severe, widespread, or causes fever, dizziness, or dehydration
