How to Grill with Charcoal Grill?

Open the grill and remove the cooking grate

Clean out old ash and debris

Open the bottom and top vents

Fill a chimney starter with charcoal

Place newspaper or fire starter under the chimney

Light the newspaper or fire starter

Wait until the charcoal is covered with gray ash

Pour the hot charcoal into the grill

Arrange the coals for direct or indirect cooking

Replace the cooking grate

Preheat the grill for a few minutes

Oil the grate lightly

Place food on the grill

Close the lid if needed

Adjust vents to control temperature

Turn food as needed

Cook until food reaches the proper doneness

Remove food from the grill

Close the vents after cooking

Let the coals cool completely

Dispose of ashes safely
