Choose a sunny location with well-draining soil
Prepare the soil by loosening it and removing weeds
Sow zinnia seeds after the last frost
Plant seeds about 1/4 inch deep
Space seeds according to the variety, usually 6 to 12 inches apart
Cover seeds lightly with soil
Water gently to keep the soil evenly moist
Thin seedlings if they are crowded
Keep the area weed-free
Water at the base of the plants as they grow
Pinch young plants to encourage bushier growth
Remove spent flowers to encourage more blooms
Harvest seeds from mature dried flower heads if desired
