Choose the shelf location and mark the desired height
Use a stud finder to locate wall studs
Mark stud positions on the wall
Hold the shelf or bracket level against the wall
Mark the screw hole positions
Drill pilot holes at the marked spots
Insert wall anchors if not drilling into studs
Align the shelf or bracket with the holes
Drive screws through the shelf or bracket into the wall
Tighten all screws securely
Check that the shelf is level and stable
Place items on the shelf within its weight limit
