Place eggs in a single layer in a saucepan
Add cold water until eggs are covered by 1 inch
Bring water to a full boil over medium-high heat
Turn off heat
Cover the pan
Let eggs sit for 9 to 12 minutes
Transfer eggs to an ice bath immediately
Chill for 5 to 10 minutes
Tap eggs all over to crack the shell
Peel under cool running water
Use eggs that are not extremely fresh for easier peeling
