Turn off the ignition and remove the key
Wear gloves and safety glasses
Open the hood and locate the battery
Disconnect the negative cable first
Disconnect the positive cable second
Remove any battery hold-down clamp or bracket
Lift out the old battery carefully
Clean the battery tray and cable terminals
Place the new battery in the tray in the correct orientation
Reinstall the hold-down clamp or bracket
Connect the positive cable first
Connect the negative cable second
Tighten all connections securely
Close the hood
Start the car and check that it runs properly
