Look for the lightning bolt icon on the battery symbol in the top-right corner
Check that the battery icon shows a charging indicator when plugged in
Open Control Center and look at the battery status
Tap the battery icon area to see if it shows charging
Check the lock screen for the charging symbol
Listen for the charging sound when you connect the cable
Feel for slight warmth near the iPad while it is charging
Verify that the battery percentage increases over time
Make sure the charging cable and adapter are properly connected
Try a different cable, adapter, or power outlet if it does not show charging
