Cardboard box or wooden box
Aluminum foil
Black construction paper or black paint
Clear plastic wrap or glass sheet
Tape or glue
Scissors or utility knife
Ruler
Pencil
Insulation material such as newspaper, straw, or foam
Pot or pan with a dark, matte surface
Cut a flap in the box lid to form a reflector
Cover the reflector flap with aluminum foil
Line the inside of the box with black paper or black paint
Add insulation around the inside walls of the box
Place a clear plastic wrap or glass sheet over the opening
Seal edges to trap heat
Position the stove in direct sunlight
Angle the reflector flap toward the sun
Put food or water in the dark pot
Place the pot inside the box
Reposition the stove to follow the sun as needed
