How to Mount Wall Cabinets?

Locate wall studs with a stud finder and mark their centers

Measure and mark the cabinet layout on the wall

Draw a level reference line for the cabinet bottom or top

Remove cabinet doors and shelves if needed to reduce weight

Mark the cabinet mounting holes on the wall

Drill pilot holes into the studs

Install a temporary ledger board at the correct height

Lift the cabinet into place and rest it on the ledger board

Check that the cabinet is level and plumb

Drive screws through the cabinet back into the studs

Tighten screws securely without overdriving

Mount adjacent cabinets and clamp them together if needed

Fasten adjoining cabinets together through the face frames or sides

Recheck level, plumb, and alignment after fastening

Reinstall doors and shelves

Remove the ledger board and patch any wall marks if needed
