Open the can of black beans
Pour the beans into a colander
Rinse the beans under cold water
Drain the beans well
Heat a skillet or saucepan over medium heat
Add a little oil or butter if desired
Add the beans to the pan
Season with salt, pepper, garlic, cumin, or other spices
Stir occasionally until heated through
Add a splash of water if the beans look dry
Serve warm
