How to Cook Beans on Stove?

Sort through the beans and remove any debris or damaged beans

Rinse the beans under cold water

Soak the beans in plenty of water for 8 to 12 hours, or use a quick-soak method if needed

Drain and rinse the soaked beans

Add the beans to a large pot and cover with fresh water by 2 to 3 inches

Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat

Reduce the heat to low and simmer gently

Skim off any foam that rises to the top

Add salt only after the beans begin to soften

Stir occasionally and add more water if needed to keep the beans covered

Cook until the beans are tender

Drain the beans when done, if needed

Season and use as desired
