Open the can of refried beans
Spoon the beans into a saucepan or skillet
Add a small splash of water, broth, or milk if needed
Heat over medium-low heat
Stir frequently until warmed through
Add more liquid if the beans become too thick
Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, cumin, or chili powder if desired
Serve hot
Optional: top with cheese, salsa, or chopped cilantro
