How To Cook Mung Beans?

Rinse the mung beans thoroughly

Pick out any debris or damaged beans

Soak the beans for 4 to 8 hours if desired

Drain and rinse again

Add mung beans to a pot with fresh water

Use about 3 cups of water for every 1 cup of beans

Bring to a boil

Reduce heat to a simmer

Skim off any foam if needed

Cook until tender, about 20 to 40 minutes for split mung beans or 45 to 60 minutes for whole mung beans

Add more water if needed during cooking

Season with salt near the end of cooking

Drain excess water if desired

Serve or use in recipes
