2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 cups heavy cream
1 cup whole milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
Mash or puree the strawberries with 1/4 cup of the sugar and the lemon juice
Let the strawberry mixture sit for 10 to 15 minutes
In a bowl, whisk together the remaining sugar, heavy cream, milk, vanilla extract, and salt
Stir in the strawberry mixture
Cover and chill the mixture for at least 2 hours
Pour the chilled mixture into the ice cream maker
Churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions until thick and creamy
Transfer the ice cream to a freezer-safe container
Freeze for 2 to 4 hours before serving
