Clear the area under the sink
Place a bucket or towel under the drain pipe
Locate the pivot rod connected to the stopper
Loosen the retaining nut on the pivot rod
Pull the pivot rod out of the drain assembly
Lift the stopper straight up and out of the sink drain
If the stopper is stuck, twist it gently while lifting
Clean any debris from the stopper and drain opening
Reinsert the stopper if needed by reversing the steps
