Turn off the power at the breaker or main switch if it is safe to do so
Call emergency services immediately
Use a Class C or ABC fire extinguisher if the fire is small and you can do so safely
Aim the extinguisher at the base of the flames
If the fire is in an appliance, unplug it only if it is safe and the plug is not hot
Do not use water
Do not use foam, flour, or baking soda unless specifically appropriate and safe for the situation
Do not touch burning or damaged electrical equipment
Evacuate immediately if the fire grows, spreads, or produces heavy smoke
Close doors behind you when leaving if possible
Keep a safe distance and wait for firefighters to arrive
