Unplug the drill or remove the battery
Open the chuck by turning it counterclockwise
Hold the drill firmly
Pull the bit straight out
If the bit is stuck, keep turning the chuck counterclockwise until it loosens
For a keyless chuck, twist the sleeve by hand
For a keyed chuck, insert the chuck key and turn it counterclockwise
Remove the bit once the jaws release it
Tighten the chuck slightly if needed after removing the bit
