Turn off the drill and remove the battery or unplug it
Hold the chuck firmly
Turn the chuck sleeve counterclockwise to open the jaws
Pull the drill bit straight out
If the bit is stuck, open the chuck fully and wiggle the bit while pulling
For a keyless chuck, rotate the chuck by hand until the bit loosens
For a keyed chuck, insert the chuck key and turn it counterclockwise
Reinsert the battery or plug in the drill after the bit is removed
