Leave the area immediately and ventilate the space
Open windows and doors
Turn on fans to move air outside
Wash skin, hair, and clothing as soon as possible
Mix 1 quart hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda, and 1 teaspoon dish soap for skin or fur
Apply the mixture carefully and rinse well
Use pet-safe skunk odor remover for animals
Wash contaminated clothes separately with detergent and baking soda
Add vinegar to laundry if fabric allows
Clean hard surfaces with vinegar and water
Use an enzyme cleaner on porous surfaces
Sprinkle baking soda on carpets and upholstery
Let baking soda sit, then vacuum thoroughly
Replace HVAC filters if odor spread through the system
Place bowls of vinegar or activated charcoal in the affected area
Repeat cleaning if the smell remains
Contact a veterinarian if a pet was sprayed in the eyes or mouth
