Empty the drawer completely
Pull the drawer out as far as it will go
Look for release levers, tabs, clips, or screws on the slides
Press or lift the release mechanism if present
Tilt the front of the drawer upward slightly
Lift the drawer off the slides and pull it free
If there are no release mechanisms, remove any stop screws or safety clips
For wooden drawers, pull firmly while lifting the front slightly to clear the runners
Keep both hands on the drawer to prevent it from falling
Set the drawer aside safely
