Cut the carpet into manageable strips with a utility knife
Roll up each strip as you remove it
Pull up the carpet padding underneath
Remove any staples, nails, or tack strip pieces from the floor
Use a pry bar or pliers to lift stubborn sections
Dispose of carpet, padding, and debris properly
Vacuum the subfloor after removal
