Place the dinner plate in the center of each setting
Put the fork to the left of the plate
Put the knife to the right of the plate with the blade facing inward
Put the spoon to the right of the knife if needed
Place the napkin to the left of the fork or on the plate
Put the water glass above the knife
Place additional glasses slightly to the right of the water glass
Arrange utensils in the order they will be used, from outside to inside
Set the salad fork to the left of the dinner fork if serving salad first
Set the salad knife to the right of the dinner knife if serving salad first
Place bread plate above the forks if used
Put the butter knife on the bread plate if used
Keep all items evenly spaced and aligned
Ensure each place setting is consistent with the others
