Turn on the TV and the DirecTV receiver
Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT buttons on the remote until the green light flashes twice
Enter the correct TV code for your TV brand
Press POWER to test the remote
If the TV turns off, the code is correct
If the TV does not turn off, repeat with another code
To program the remote automatically, press MENU on the DirecTV receiver
Go to Settings and Help
Select Settings
Select Remote Control
Choose Program Remote
Follow the on-screen instructions
Test the volume, power, and input buttons
If needed, repeat the setup process for other devices
Replace the remote batteries if the remote does not respond
