Gather a needle, thread, scissors, fabric, and pins
Cut a length of thread and thread the needle
Tie a knot at the end of the thread
Pin the fabric pieces together if needed
Insert the needle through the fabric from the back side
Pull the thread through until the knot stops it
Make small, even stitches along the seam
Keep the stitches close together for strength
Pull the thread snug after each stitch

Tie off the thread with a secure knot at the end
Trim any excess thread with scissors
