Turn off the water supply
Plug the drain to catch small parts
Inspect the tub spout for a set screw underneath or on the side
Loosen the set screw with the correct Allen wrench if present
Pull the spout straight off the pipe
If there is no set screw, check for a threaded spout
Turn the spout counterclockwise to unscrew it if threaded
If the spout is caulked, cut the caulk with a utility knife
Wiggle the spout gently while pulling it off
Remove any remaining adapter or mounting hardware
Clean the pipe and wall area after removal
