Fit the piping bag with the desired tip
Fold the top of the bag outward to create a cuff
Place the bag in a tall glass or hold it open with one hand
Spoon the icing into the bag
Fill the bag no more than halfway
Unfold the cuff and twist the top closed
Hold the bag with your dominant hand
Use your other hand to guide the tip
Apply steady pressure to pipe the icing
Stop squeezing before lifting the tip away
Refill the bag as needed
Clean the bag and tip after use
